The OMS backplate made of stainless steel or aluminum are very well made. The holes and slots are machined with special tools so that no sharp edges can arise. The OMS backplate is patented and therefore the shape is unique. The ends (wings) of the OMS backplate are angled. This allows the diver to do safety exercises underwater, for example. easy access to its valves and does not push the tanks away from the body.
 The OMS backplate has 9 holes on each side. This allows additional diving accessories to be attached. In the lower area of the OMS backplate there are two additional holes on each side.

 In the Pfalz of the OMS backplate there are three holes at the top and an elongated hole at the bottom. This allows the wing bladder to be positioned higher or lower as required. This is advantageous for the "fine trim".
